TIFTON, Ga. (May 6, 2019) - Legacy Village of Tifton caregiver Valeria Daniel has been named the senior living community’s annual Going the Extra Mile award winner.
"Valeria goes the extra mile in everything she does. She is a true asset to our dedicated team of caregivers. The way she cares for residents and their families is hard to match. She goes beyond the call of duty every time she comes into the building. We are thankful to have her as part of the Legacy Village family,” said Janie Whitley, executive director of Legacy Village of Tifton.
Daniel has served the Legacy Village of Tifton community since 1996 and displays exemplary dedication to the residents, their families and other team members. She is known for her hard work and compassion.
One example of Daniel’s exceptional service is how she goes to the community’s memory care unit to offer comfort and assurance to a resident, who is no longer part of her normal daily work assignment. By continuing to help the resident with her showers, Daniel has made her transition to memory care much easier.
Daniel was selected for the annual award out of pool of quarterly winners due to her outstanding work.
“I don’t feel like I’m working when I’m enjoying my day caring for friends and family. I love hearing about their lives and history, and I have learned a lot from our residents. I feel blessed to be able to assist in their care through this stage of their lives and support their families,” Daniel said.
The Going the Extra Mile program encourages residents, family members and employees to nominate team members who have performed exceptionally well in a specific scenario. The program committee reviews nominations each quarter, selecting a winner who receives a special parking space, a personalized plaque in the lobby and a $100 cash prize. The annual winner receives a $500 prize.
